Ocean View Civic League History

Started in 1989 by the late Mr. Tom Hall, the Ocean View Civic meets the first Wednesday of each month at the Pretlow Library.  Annually the Ocean View Civic League sponsors community events such as:  The Ocean View Holiday Tree lighting ceremony/Children’s toy drive, Community Thanksgiving dinner donations, Adopt-a-spot cleanups, and the annual CHKD Cure for childhood cancer fundraiser.

How does OVCL help to improve our community?

  • Maintains three Adopt-A-Spots as part of Keep Norfolk Beautiful, and participates in Clean the Bay Day
  • Hosts interesting and informative speakers from the community at each meeting.
  • Produces a monthly newletter for residents and business owners
  • Awards Yard of the Month (spring and summer)
  • Provides a forum for community concerns and a base of active members to respond to community issues.
  • Working to bring a youth/senior/recreation center to Ocean View
  • Fosters a greater sense of community and involvement for our residents.
  • Host an annual Holiday party for members and their guest

We hope to see you on the first Wednesday of each month at the Pretlow Library at 7pm!
